Learn it in five minutes

Pick a tab and play through real situations, one step at a time — every screenshot is the actual extension.

A tour of all five tabs in under four minutes — narrated in English, subtitles in 13 languages (press CC).
All of it in one window

Everything you need to mark, recall, and reuse

Stop juggling note-taking apps, sticky notes, clipboard managers and a separate to-do app. Markpad consolidates what a knowledge worker reaches for every day.

Today — plan the day, then look back

A task list that starts fresh every morning. Unfinished tasks come along in one click — no retyping, no red "overdue". Break a task into steps, star what matters, drag to reorder, and every task keeps a fixed number (#1, #2.1) you can refer to. Hit Start to time what you work on. Plan tasks for any day in the next five weeks, set tasks that repeat, and look back on a calendar of what you actually got done. Select text on a page to turn it into a task with a link back to where it came from.

Pin Widget — Floating sidebar

Pin Markpad as a draggable sidebar on any page — every tab of the main window, without leaving what you are reading. Turn it on or off in Settings.

Full tab — everything you marked, in one place

The small window is built for capturing. Open Markpad in a full tab when you want to go back through it: snippets, vocabulary and notes on one timeline, reading a note without losing the list, bulk tidy-up, tag colors, and review stats.

Translate — in context, without leaving the page

Highlight foreign text → translate inline. Look up a word to get a dictionary card — pronunciation (UK/US) you can hear, meanings by part of speech, and the meaning it has in your sentence. Any word, sentence or translation is read aloud in a natural voice, in every language. Edit before saving. Save the result straight to a snippet, a vocabulary term or a note. Google-quality translation — slang and idioms included — with Chrome's built-in on-device Translator as the backup. Prefer nothing leaving your browser? Turn online translation and reading aloud off in Settings.

Google Sync — Markpad Pro

Sign in with your Google account and your snippets, vocabulary, notes and Today tasks follow you to every computer you use. Works offline and catches up when you are back online. Turn it off or remove everything from the cloud in one click — your data on this device is never touched.

Write comfortably, fix mistakes instantly

Long snippets and notes open in a real editor: Markdown and JSON highlighting, folding, and search. Saved the wrong thing? An Undo button sits right on the item you just saved. Tags are suggested — and can be added for you — from what you write, using on-device AI. Deleted items wait 30 days in Trash.

What it looks like

Every window below is the real extension, captured from the current build.

Snippets: type #alias in any text box and it expands to the saved text
Vocabulary: save a word from any page and review it with spaced repetition
Notes: notes anchored to a site come back when you revisit it
Today: a daily task list with a calendar, repeating tasks and a summary of time spent
Why Markpad

Built for people who own their data

No account required. No data harvesting. No vendor lock-in. Markpad respects your time and your stuff.

Privacy-first by design

All data stays in your browser's local storage. Signing in with Google is optional and uploads none of your content — only Google Sync (Markpad Pro) keeps a cloud copy, and you can switch it off and wipe that copy any time.

Offline-ready

Works without internet. Your snippets, terms, and notes are always one click away, even on planes, in tunnels, or in remote locations.

Markpad Pro — $19.49/year

Google Sync across devices, 10,000 items per list and your full Today history — $19.49/year or $2.49/month. Free stays generous, and nothing you save is ever deleted if Pro ends.

What we're exploring

Help decide what Markpad builds next

Ideas are shown to people before they are built. This is the one on the table right now.

An idea we're weighing: notes pinned to a passage

Idea

This one doesn't exist yet. Here's roughly how it would work — have a look, then tell us what you think.

  1. 1Pin a note to the exact passage

Select a sentence on any page and write a note on it — Markpad remembers that spot, not just the site.

  2. 2Come back and it's lit up

Next visit, the passage is underlined with a mark in the margin; point at it to read your note. If the page has changed and the passage is gone, Markpad tells you instead of failing silently.

  3. 3Share a link to that spot

Copy a link that opens the page right at that passage. It's a standard web link, so it works for people who don't have Markpad too.

Rough sketches — nothing here is built yet

Would you use this? "I just use bookmarks" is a real answer too — we'd rather hear it now than after building it.
